New Mysteries – January 2015

The best way to start off a new year? With a great mystery, of course! Here are a few January releases that I’m looking forward to:

The Girl On The Train book coverTitle: The Girl On The Train    Author: Paula Hawkins

Release Date: January 13, 2015      ISBN:  9781594633669

Why?  The plot is intriguing: a woman sees something she shouldn’t while staring out the train window on her morning commute. It’s being advertised as a Hitchcockian thriller, so I’m hoping there will be plenty of twists and turns to the story.

As Chimney Sweepers Come To Dust book coverTitle: As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust     Author: Alan Bradley

Release Date: January 06, 2015     ISBN:  9780345539939

Why?    Flavia de Luce is banished from her beloved home in England and sent to attend her late mother’s alma mater, Miss Bodycote’s Female Academy, in Canada. There she finds a skeleton in her dorm room chimney and a mystery involving missing schoolgirls. I’m a fan of Bradley’s other Flavia novels, so adding this to my TBR pile is a no brainer.

Snow Way Out book coverTitle: Snow Way Out      Author: Christine Husom

Release Date: January 06, 2015      ISBN:  9780425270806

Why? The snow globe angle is interesting. After hosting a class on making snow globes, Camryn Brooks discovers that someone forgot to take their snow globe with them. The snow globe depicts a man sleeping on a park bench, similar to the scene she discovers as she walks home that evening through the park. Only, in this version, the man also has a knife in his back.

Those are my picks for January 2015. What new mystery releases are you anticipating?
